My son went through the entire Lego website to pick out which Lego he wanted to purchase with his own money. He is a 6 year old who took a Lego engineering summer camp, where he learned to build all kinds of cool Lego figures. This is the kit he decided upon and let me tell you, he plays with it everyday for hours at a time. He would rather play with Legos than watch tv, which in today's world is fantastic. He not only put together the entire kit himself, but takes it apart and makes new figures out of the pieces. Some of the pieces are rather small, so he has needed my help snapping them together, but overall he is able to read the directions and put the pieces together independently. Super Structures 50 Model Building Set

I bought this set as a birthday gift for my son, who's a graduate of 3 smaller K'NEX models. It was delightful for him - the models are big and look great, the learning curve is comfortable enough (as long as you can make your kid build the models in the presented order and not rush ahead to the rotating Space Needle...). There's also an educational value - we went online with Google Earth and flew to see an aqueduct, the pyramids, and so on.

It was great to see him develop as he progresses along the models - his shoulders are getting quite a workout as he has to make rods click into connectors sideways, which takes a nice effort - these are writing muscles as well, which is useful. I bought this set as a birthday gift for my son, who's a graduate of 3 smaller K'NEX models. It was delightful for him - the models are big and look great, the learning curve is comfortable enough (as long as you can make your kid build the models in the presented order and not rush ahead to the rotating Space Needle...). ZOOB 250-Piece Set

My granddaughter is turning 12 this week. My daughter says get more Zoobs, you bought some a long time ago. She says they are used a lot. There is also a 7 year old in the family. I remember playing with these last summer at their house. We were squabbling over pieces because there weren't enough! So I will get more!

LEGO® BIONICLE® Phantoka Toa Pohatu

POhatu Nuva is the Orange Phantoka Toa of Stone with 68 pieces. This set is cool. There are three features: fire the Spheres of Light from the Midak Skyblaster. Twist knob on back of arm to twirl the propellers (did I spell that right?). Connect Photok on his back. You can put any of the six Matoran (Photok, Tanma, Solek, Kirop, Radiak, Gavla) on his back but since Photok is Orange and Pohatu NUva is Orange, it looks better.

*Pros*
I Like how the SBlaster is mounted on his back.
The twirling propellers are cool.
Photok looks awsome on Pohatu Nuva's back.

*Cons*
Mask is just dumb. ( why I rate it 4 stars instead of 5.

Magna -Tiles 48 Piece Dx Set

We bought this for our 3 year old son's birthday a month ago. He has played with these tiles more than any of his other toys. This, for him, is on par with Curious George, keeps him occupied for long periods of time. His only frustration is trying to put the door in place. If the truth be told, dad has also built a few impressive structures of his own. Great toy!!

My boys are 3 and 6, and both will play with this toy for hours (alone and with their friends). We dump the pieces out on the living room floor and my husband and I have to make the boys put it away! The gears are really brightly colored but the motorized remote control piece is what really captivates the kids. I am looking forward to purchasing more gears to go with this set so we can make some really complex creations, and also have two remotes. The only complaint I have with this toy is the sticker sheet that comes with the set -- the stickers have not been stamped out of the sheet, so you literally have to cut them out with scissors, and then cut a hole in each one so you can attach gears without the sticker in the way. Once again K'Nex has done it again. My son loves to build any and all complicated things from K'Nex. He can figure out things I can't and it keeps him busy and entertained for hours.
He loves showing them off to everyone and they are always impressed at what he creates.
