I am buying an NXT for my 11 year old son who has been begging for one for awhile. He is a member of the Robotics team at his elementary school (his 3rd year) and so he interacts with these every day, but wants one of his own to play around with at home.

For those of you whose children are or may be interested in science/engineering/robotics, etc. or are just looking for something creative to do, there is a worldwide program out there that they can join to help develop these skills and have fun at the same time! LEGO Star Wars AT-TE Walker

My Grandson had been talking about this toy for several months. When
it arrrived at his house on his birthday he was excited. He has played
with it over and over and takes it with him when visiting me or his Aunts.
It appears to be a safe toy for an 8 year old and very durable. If your
child loves Lego's and Star Wars then you can feel safe obtaining this for the child.

Disclosure: I'm a 49-year-old case of arrested development who used to build models of baseball stadiums with Legos when I was a kid, and I wanted to do it again. I bought this piece thinking it was the same green building plate I used to use when I was young. IT IS NOT. For anyone who thinks about buying this believing the pegs are standard Lego size, they are far too large and, as such, useless.

This might be a great piece for use with large Lego pieces, but for my purposes, I just blew $10. Buyer beware.

My kids have been collecting all the Legos that go with the movies. The Legos are much more fun than the movie. Spend two hours building Legos with you kids rather than waste them on the film.

LEGO Naboo N-1 Starfighter with Vulture Droid

I saw this thing before I saw the old version of this set, and there's really no comparison. It is a really sweet kit. The launcher would beat a sniper in a compitition of distance. (Not really; this thing can't shoot 2 1/2 miles with pinpoint accuracy. Actually, this thing can't shoot 2.5 miles at all. Drat.) Both the N-1 and the Vulture Droid look awesome, but the Vulture Droid's "flick fire missles" don't work at all. Who cares, though? It's a sweet set either way you cut it.

I bought this as a project to work on together, w/ my daughter who is 3 yrs old. Interestingly enough, even though she is way under the targeted age group of 7+, she easily learnt how to snap the pieces together and w/ some guidance from me in gathering the various parts actually assembled most of the supporting structure. This definitely speaks volumes about the ease of assembly of the product.

Setting up of the track proved to be a little challenging for her (no detraction from the product) not so much for the difficulty in getting delicate track struts to snap w/ other components but more so because of the need for precision (out of the league of a 3 yr old), so had to put that together myself while she assembled the gear chains. ... LEGO Star Wars AT-AP Podwalker

My son (9 years) got really into this set and wouldn't stop until it was finished. Pretty impressive, too. This set didn't have the shortcoming some Lego sets suffer from; falling apart as kids try and build them.

This one was challenging, engaging, and very cool looking when completed.

My son wants to add that it had lots of unique parts, too.

My son is 7 and this lego set kept him occupied and going. He loved it. He's really proud that he built it. He did get frustrated at times, but had to remind him that it was rated for older kids. I recommend it.
