I recently bought SlamWich based on a recommendation and I think it is really fun! It is fast and silly and enjoyable. My 5 year old twins were easily able to play. (Actually, we removed those 1,2,3 cards for now to make it easier, but we'll try to add them back soon.
I did play once with my husband and he did whack my hand pretty hard (it twisted my finger a bit) so I can see where the one person with a "1" star rating was coming from, but I don't blame the game for that - I blame my over-zealous husband! :-)
Since then, I went and purchased several of the Gamewright games, and I think they are all pretty fun. For me, it has been money well spent.
We have added some silly variations to the game - ... Read More:

This is a great game for preschool thru 1st grade. I have a 4 and a 6 year old. The 4 year old now understand how to add and subtract. I give her pennies to help her count and figure out the answer herself. It's a fairly easy game for the 6 year old because you only add and subtract numbers up to 6. I've thought about getting some 12 sided dice to make it more challenging, however, the board doesn't have that many spaces, so it might make for a very short game. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this game. The kids love to play it.

I gave this to my 5 year old daughter last year for Christmas and it ended up being a family favorite. My 8 year old and the grandparents also enjoy playing this game. Plus you can decrease the difficulty level when playing with younger children which is a nice feature. The Collectible tin version has the Super Peek cards and the "cat vision" decoder which the kids love. Our decoder has gotten pretty beat up so a sturdier visor would be nice. The kids prefer this version over the regular version because of the visor. Also I like the tin that it comes in.

This is such a fun toy. You hide the little berries around the house and then whoever lands on a berry tile has to wear the horton/elephant hat and find/pick up the berry with the trunk while doing a funny action like crawling or hopping or something. My 3.5 year old son LOVES this! Even my husband had a ball last night playing it with him. The spinner brings back memories of my child hood games and helps the young kids with counting from 1-4. I thought this was a 10 in terms of fun. Another fun game we have from the same company is the Cat in the Hat game. That one is great too.

This is my second favorite Gamewright game. I really love Frogjuice, but this game is really excellent. It's pretty easy to learn, but there is enough variety to make it interesting the whole time and for many games. You can tell when a game has been well designed and thought out, and this one definitely has. Definitely recommended.
My son and I love this starter set. We've played a few times. However, now we're ready to start adding to the set with boosters. I've purchased some boosters, but they don't seem to come with energy cards, which are essential to the gameplay!
This starter set gives you some Water and Punch energy cards, which are great to start with and fit just fine with the starting mini-decks of this set, but that leaves more than half the booster cards we've purchased un-useable because they're of a different type. And the instructions don't really explain anything beyond basic gameplay. I was hoping that a starter kit like this would at least answer beginner questions like "how do I expand my deck?", "how do I play with other types of cards", "should I focus ... Read More:

What I like about this game is that if your child is too young to fully understand how to play by the rules, or if they just don't want to, you can use the game pieces to play Memory. Each animal comes in a pair, so you can lay them all face down and find its match. My daughter likes to pull the pieces out of the box one at a time and place it over its picture on the board until all the pieces are gone, so it can be a solitary game as well.
It's even more fun for them when they recognize the animals from the Eric Carle books. Would make a great gift, especially when paired with one or more of the books on which this game was based.
The game pieces themselves are quite sturdy, which is nice when playing with the age group this game is ... Read More:
I played this for the first time with my husband, sister and a friend. My husband is a gamer and has been for years. The rest of us are not (we run in fear from gamers). The non-gamers found this to be an easy to pick up game (with my husband also acting as rulesmaster and dumbing down some of the finer points of the game for us). My husband had fun and found the inside jokes amusing. So this is an enjoyable game for everyone to play regardless of their gamer experience.
