Gamewright Go Bananas Card Game

I picked up this game for my 4-year-old as a stocking stuffer. It took him a few games to pick up on exactly what he needed to do, but once he did, boy, has he had a blast. We all have. This is a rolling in the floor laughing game (literally). Being the first to slap the cards and say "Go Bananas!" or "Gotcha Gator!" obviously is his goal, but is it great fun. I recommend this for the whole family.

We got this version of Monopoly in Hawaii, and it is great! My sister and I like to play it when we have time, and it's much better than the real Monopoly, because the real Monopoly is too confusing. This one makes sense, and is easy to play. I mean, people of all ages can play it! It's awesome!

Professor Noggin Countries of the World Card Game

I purchased Professor Noggin's Countries of the World Card Game for my niece and nephew for Christmas. I find that they don't learn a lot of things in school that I think they should and was looking for something that they could both play with and learn from.
However, this game actually exceeded my expectations. The kids learn from the questions and answers in the game and then will remember later if the question is asked again. While this is a memorization of the facts, I can then ask a deeper question or other questions about the same thing and they are able to deduce or learn from those questions as well.
I find it actually teaches the adults a lot too, as there are many that they don't know. I'd be excited about a 3rd edition ... Read More:

Wooden Shogi Game Set Japanese Chess Table Board

This is an OK shogi set, but nothing spectacular. The board is quite nice, though mine has a couple of small dents in it, and the wood is a bit darker than I would like. The pieces are not that great; several of them have the wood grain changing from light to dark in the middle of the piece, which is very off-putting. Also, the calligraphy is quite uneven -- most pieces are fine, but on some pieces the writing is too thick while on others it's too thin. Most importantly, the board is very small and would not be pleasant for actually playing a game. It's fine for playing over recorded games, which is what I'm going to use it for.

Shogi is a fantastic game, but if you get into it you'll want a much better set than this.

I purchased this game for my grandson as he had played it with me on an old game set (about 15 years old), I couldn't believe the cheapness and lack of quality of the new game board, all playing pieces and the poorly printed money (only printed on one side and almost all the $10 bills came cut in half). Also its strange that the old version money denominations went up to $5,000 and the new one only $1,000, I guess we've experienced deflation in recent years? The game itself is great (counting, adding, subtraction and strategy for kids), so if you can find a quality constructed version of the game and get what you pay for.
