My three-year old granddaughter has a blast with this. She really loves the ice cream cone. It is less like sand and more like moist dirt. There is no grit like sand, and it doesn't dry out. But it is very messy; we played inside for a few minutes, then I realized my mistake and MawMaw took her outside. You lose a lot every time you play with it, and it doesn't come with very much. We had to buy more sand. It kept her occupied for awhile, and we play with it every time she comes to visit.
