I believe this dominoes set should not be as expensive. The case is not entirely wood; the top and bottom are laminate. The case looks good though. Dominoes themselves should look better: the dots are not centered on all pieces, paint spreads out of imprints, domino sides are dirty from paint. If you're looking for a perfect gift, it's not it. It's good set, however I would not give it 29 bucks again.

Mexican Train Deluxe Double 12 Number Domino Set

This Mexican Train dominoes set is a great value and good quality. The game, of course, is lots of fun for all ages. The only criticism would be that the way the hub is designed, the plastic trains have a problem resting on the hub without falling off when the hub is moved or when you press the button to hear the sound of the train. A slight modification to the hub to allow places for the trains to rest on the hub securily would be an improvement.

That's because it is the ONLY dominoes set for beginners I have found that has both pictures for matching AND numbers for traditional dominoes games. Once your children outgrow the simple picture matching game spelled out in the enclosed rule sheet, you and they can use this set to play any game you could play with an ordinary double-6 dominoes set.

Note: You will probably want to keep the plastic inserts that come with it in order to prevent the dominoes from rattling around inside the travel tin. Like most such "keepsake" travel tins, it is a bit flimsy.

Then when you've got your children thoroughly hooked, it will be time to whip out the BIG set: Double 18 Dominoes - Color Dots.

Mexican Train Game Domino Set

We played Mexican Train Thanksgiving evening, grandchildren 9 and up and adults. Would suggest this to anyone who wants to have family fun. For that matter just adult fun as well. Only negative is the plastic box it comes in, it's cheap and hard to snap. Would recomment the set that comes in the tin box, I could not find it at time or ordering.
