I bought this for my grandson's 1st birthday on October 5,2008. The first two weeks he LOVED it! The busy little items on there had his attention and he even cried when we took him out! By the 3rd week, he started getting bored with it and realized that when he pushed it hard enough (and all around), it came apart and he could 'escape'. We then tried tying yarn at the ends to keep it together, but he quickly learned that he could get out by lifting it up and over his head! Now mind you, he's not in the yard long, perhaps only an hour a day (if that long)! So, if your child is laid-back and not as curious, this yard may do well for them and you. This toy is very good for keeping my son occupied while I'm feeding him. Without something to do, he gets bored and it's very difficult to keep him in his highchair. However, if I had known that Melissa & Doug toys were made in China, I would have found a different toy instead. I can't imagine why a company would enlist China to make simple wooden toys when we have plenty of hard working people and plenty of lumber here. I won't be buying from China this holiday season, so I won't be buying any more Melissa & Doug.

As I have played with this toy/puzzle over time, I have developed some criticisms:
1) All of the shapes fit onto all of the pegs. It would be nice if the center cut-out was the same as the shape and the peg was that shape too. My daughter really likes the puzzle-aspect of toys and she seems to not have as much interest in this one because it is so easy to put the shapes on the pegs.
2) There are 3 triangles, 4 squares, and 5 pentagons. The number of objects also corresponds to the number of sides on each object, but there are 2 rectangles (4-sided figure) and 1 circle (no sides) and this doesn't make sense.

Kid-O Bilibo - Green

Had two Bilibo's delivered to my grandchildren (ages 1.5 and 2.5) while we were on vacation. What great fun the Bilibo's are! They spin and rock in them, sort toys into them, cradle their babies in them and walk around with them on their heads acting like cartoon characters. We haven't even tried them out in snow! The play value is immense and never ending which is what great toys become.

And while at my 2.5 yr. grandchild's, she stands in it, hangs on to a chair and twists and balances standing in it. Her mother was a gymnast and NCAA diver and this looks like a great toy to build those ankles up for balancing and take-offs. plastic is cold in the winter and it still stank. if the baby spits up (or other bodily functions should leak) all the little creases become tiny rivers and it's a pain to get them cleaned out. her brother, one year older, got into it and caused it to spring a leak. don't even try to patch it.

Love it, love it, love it. I bought this for my son's second birthday. His eyes lit and and he played with it 1/2 hour straight. I finally had to take it away for bedtime. First thing in the morning he was asking for his train. My 4.5 yr daughter loves playing with it too.

He can't put the train back together perfectly yet, but much better than I expected. Great learning tool, great puzzle, great for hand eye coordination. I only wish it had a pull string - I might have my husband add that on.

My little girl loves these! More than any other toy, it is these she always asks for - I end up hiding them so they don't get scattered, and save them for just before bedtime when she needs to wind-down and do something quietly. She is only just grasping the concept of matching the cards up (at 17 months) but loves the pictures and the textures, shows me the cards and makes the animals sounds etc.
Definitely great value for the amount of time she's played with them. Would recommend from around 14 months - or when they stop mouthing everything.

Wow, what a bummer. We have lots of Melissa and Doug toys, and I've always been very happy with their quality and durability. This one however, is shameful! My first clue should have been as I was taking it out of the box, the top layer of cheap wood splintered off. Had I bought it in a store, I'd have taken it right back. This was a birthday present for our daughter though, and bought online, so I thought "Well, it's just one strip of wood." Our child loved this toy right away...that being said, within the first week the entire area of blue wood began splintering off. All over the floor. Not only could my daughter have choked on a piece, but she could have scraped or cut herself, etc.
Cheap craftsmanship aside, my daughter has lost her balance ... Read More:
