This is a great game. My whole family loves to play it together. The only downside is that there are only 12 episodes to choose from, so once you played them all, the game is useless.

My 5 year old son really likes the idea of this game, but I can hardly tell when it is exploding. It kind of vibrates. If your kids like pirate stuff, they will still probably like it. Seems to be well made. It does makes noise as the fuse is going down and has a few phrases. Overall, not bad, just a little lacking in explosions.

Mr. Jack is a 2-player game built around the theme of discovering the identity of Jack-the-Ripper. The artwork is cartoony and friendly, so don't let the theme put you off. I've played this several times now with my 16 year old son, and he has declared it his "new favorite game". Underneath the skin, this game is a deduction game for the Investigator (cleverly arranged so that no paper or pencil is needed), and a cat-and-mouse game for Mr. Jack. I suspect that initially, both players will find the Mr. Jack side easier to play, so switching roles is recommended. My Little Pony Memory Game

We love this game. I always loved Memory as a child, and am so glad to have found such an appealing version... most of the ponies are so pretty!

There are lots and lots of cards, so what we do is each pick several pairs of our favorites. So we start with a sort of "matching" game, both the 2 yr old and 6 yr old enjoy it. Then we lay out the game (way less than the total # of cards) and have fun trying to get our "own" cards (the ones we picked), our favorites. When we don't, it's a great lesson in sportsmanship. This method eliminates any problems with similar looking ponies, though I agree maybe it's almost a good thing to have to pay close attention to detail. Alibi

I was looking for a fun game for friends that we have been exchanging games for Christmas gifts with for years. Never having played or even heard of Alibi, I decided to take the chance, having enjoyed the game of Clue as a child. We really had fun! The first round was a learning process, but we figured things out as we went along. We all even wanted to play another round! It is the same idea as Clue, but more detailed. There is strategy involved, and lots of deduction. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Fancy Nancy Big Easy Colorforms Game

After reading the other reviews, I didn't think this game would be that great. My 5 year old daughter received it for Christmas this year. It actually is kind of fun to play as long as you don't have expectations that it is educational. Also, I can't imagine my two children (ages 3 and 5) playing this without some kind of supervision because of the somewhat confusing directions and zillion little colorforms pieces. It is fine for family fun time together.

Tri - Words

This came quickly and was better than advertised. I ordered this for my class of first graders. It is perfect for them during the beginning of the first semester. With adjustments, they can still use it and learn after they are reading independently. I like that children can play with tri words alone and in a small group. I would recommend it for any 4-8 year old, or anyone who is struggling with beginning reading skills.

On one hand, yes, I could certainly come up with the general idea on my own. We still do, if we're caught somewhere without them.

However, it's the creativity and the sheer volume of these that make them irreplaceable. My 5yo has been playing for over a year now, and still begs to do so. Fact is: I'd have LONG since run out of topics off the top of my head (and likely never come up with some of the more original ones).

Crocodile Creek The World Map Placemat

My kids have reached the placemat age. They love poring over their placemats at meal time. They also love our globe, so I thought this mat would be a good addition to our table. It is brightly colored and fun to look at, and there are fun illustrations and factoids - but my biggest complaint is that there are no country boundaries and the map is just not realistic.

Later, I picked up two huge laminated wall maps - one of the world and one of the U.S., and put them up on the wall, so we use those maps, and our globe, when we want to find countries.
