We love this game. It's easy to learn. We can play a game in just a few minutes, leaving time for another round. It's easy to adapt for our preschooler so we can all play together. It's fun for just 2 players or our family of 6. It's been fun to see our kids pick up a game with each other for some good sibling time. The adults enjoy it as much as the kids.

When my game arrived, one of the wooden dividers between the ship pieces was broken loose - probably during shipping. (The ships are heavy duty, let me tell you!) The seller sent a replacement, and it had two broken dividers! One can be glued back in place, but the other is split (like they used tiny nails to hold it, but they couldn't hold. Why was one only glued and the other nailed?) So, my assessment of the high quality of the game is that I'm more than a little bit disappointed.

I also have to mention that about 1/2 of the red glass "ruby" pieces are orange, not red!

Settlers of the Stone Age is easy to learn if you are a veteran Catanner - however we found the game is a little long and gets slightly tedious if the pace isn't kept up by all the players. One thing we did try was playing as a 2 player game, with a couple of rule changes, and it worked out great.

So many games can't be played by 2 players, so this is a real boon for Stone Age. With 2 it moves along fast and with limited Neanderthal participation it becomes a race of accomplishment rather than a battle between the players.

tiles are sturdy and colorful. Fun for all three children ages 4-11 and Mom and Dad enjoy. the 5 year old is becoming quite expert in matching the animals.
