I have always been interested in WWII and strategic board games. Axis and Allies Europe fulfills expectations once you take the time to learn the game. This game exercises your intelligence by examining your ability to strategize, think ahead, and know the person you are playing. It is basically Risk on steroids.

Catan Event Cards

This seemed like it would add a lot of fun to the game, and it seemed like a great idea. Upon trying them though, it's just not the same. The "events" can be pretty game altering and are not that much fun, adding more random elements to a game I believe is already perfectly balanced in terms of strategy/chance.

You could just use these cards for the numeric portion of them, if the dice really don't do it for you. Although we hated how the dice tend to fall into "trends", we quickly went back to the dice after this. It's just not catan if once in a while there aren't four 7's rolled in a row :)

Rex Game Tangoes Jr.

We saw this in the gift shop of our local science museum and just gave it to 4 yr old daughter as a birthday gift. She's loving it! The two levels are perfect for her age. Level 1 shows how the shapes fit into the bigger picture. Level 2 either tests memory or creativity. Great puzzle.

We just opened our Make A Plate kit to find that the marker selection and quality was quite limited. There are only six markers, and our black marker was completely dried up. I asked for this game for my 38th birthday--believe it or not! Every time I would take my 2 children into the local toy store I would stand and play this game which they had on display. Honestly, it is a great educational game for both my 6 and 9 year old children--you have to add up the dice and then figure out which combination of numbers is best to flip down. It really is fun and very addictive. I knew my kids would love to give it to me since they always saw me play it, and I also knew they would enjoy it and not realize they were having to do math!

Match Game DVD

If you are a Match Game fan, you will love this game! There are only 25 games so that is the down side. But the little marker boards that come with it could be used if you decide to play along while watching Match Game on the GSN (Game Show Network). It plays an actual clip of Gene reading the question but when the celeb reads the answer they do little picture clips. Still a great look back at the 70s!

excellent game for learning about the world. My 4,5, and 6 year old can tell you about most parts of the world that I am sure adults do not know.
