Yes, it looks somewhat cheap and the jokes are cheesy. And you should know it is often tricky to get it to shut up as it is movement triggered. This can be embarrassing. But it was hands down one of my husband's favorite toys-he got it for his brother as a gag and then wouldn't part with it. Our older neighbors and my elderly mother went gaga over it. We have the talking calculator also because I gave it to a child when I won it at a charity event and my husband made me order him a replacement. These are east coast, well bred stuffy people. Why? I would think everyone would find it annoying. Apparently not. Left it out in the rain and it won't die!

I knew they said it would be 1.5" screen but I guess I didn't really pay attention to how small that would really look. I bought this game for my 4-1/2 year old since she is always wanting to play with her big sister's (14 y.o.) game.

All in all, it's cool for a beginner because it teaches them how to play different types of video games.

It's kind of fun for me too.

This is an update to my previous (appears to be the only) review.

This game broke in less than 30 days.

DO'T BUY IT. I can't give it 0 stars but that's what it should get.

I knew they said it would be 1.5" screen but I guess I didn't really pay attention to how small that would really look. I bought this game for my 4-1/2 year old since she is always wanting to play with her big sister's (14 y.o.) game.

All in all, it's cool for a beginner because it teaches them how to play different types of video games.

It's kind of fun for me too.

This is an awesome tool/toy for your new reader! It has it all - great story, choices to make it different, a handheld "computer" style format and it expands your child's reading abilities!

Boys especially, will love following the story to the end as it is a mystery with surprise twists and turns in the story. There are 4 sets of cards to complete the story but you only have to buy three as they give a portion of the fourth set with each of the first three. Each set has 79 cards that can be stored inside the handheld device. Each card has a quick scenario in the story that leads to the child making a choice as to where he wants to go next in the story. Pixter Travel Case

When a person purchases a Color Pixter, Toys R Us should know better than send a Pixter Travel Case that does not fit the Color Pixter. No where on the discription did it mention it was for black and white only. This is only one more reason to go to the store where you can see for yourself. On a plus note, I purchased the item for $9.99 and Toys R Us credited me $14.99. They would not accept my invoice as a receipt and treated it as a return with no receipt. But it cost me at least $5.00 in gas for the trip.

Thought this was a whole lot more than it was. I bought this for my son who lost interest in it almost before I gave it to him. Thought it was electronic however it was not.
