Vtech - Move & Crawl Ball

We introduced this toy to our son at 3 or 4 months and he was immediately intrigued by the colors and sounds. Even before he could crawl, he would reach for it and push the buttons. He learned that when he did this, he could feel the ball's vibrations.
He started crawling at 5 months and immediately starting following this thing around.
He is now 7 months and still enjoys this toy. It holds his interest for a relatively long time.
I can't say much for the educational value. Our son is too young to understand what it asks him to do; same with other babies learning to crawl. Also, the animals are not realistic so even if he could "find the cow", he wouldn't know it was purple and green.

I did not purchase this product as I found out from Leapfrog that they are discontinuing it. I e-mailed the company to be sure, and was told "We are not producing this item anymore but we still have inventory of the books on-line and at the stores." So basically, it may be a great toy but if you intend to buy it I'd be sure to get all the books you want now, because who knows how long they will continue to be available. Their "Tag" system is the new thing they're doing to replace this.

LeapFrog® Leapster® Learning Game: 1st Grade

My daughter got a leapster and games for her birthday when she was 5 - one her favorites was the basic "Kindergarden" game, but it was becoming too easy for her a year later. I decided to try the 1st Grade game and she loves it - it is still challenging to her without being too frustrating. I'd much prefer she play with this than watch TV!

My 5yr old daughter has a very vivid imagination and loves to play store or restaurant. After looking into many other cash registers I decided on this one for Christmas. She loved it! She especially likes the scanner part. The drawer opens and it comes with play money, paper and coins. It is also educational because it have letters on the keys and food items and talks. Perfect for her to ring us out and learn more at the same time!

Math Mat Challenge Game

The mat does what it says it does, but when you actually get it and experience the simplicity of it, it doesn't really engage you. At least it didn't engage my Kindergartener (5 1/2 yr old), or my 1st grader both of whom got bored easily. I bought it because my kindergartner is starting addition this semester, and I thought it would be a fun way to learn, but the mat does nothing to make learning fun (e.g. no fun noises, no games that make you arrive at the correct answer, etc). You accomplish the same by taking a piece of paper and writting down simple additions and subtractions, or taking a mic and asking your child what 2+ 2 is.

In terms of the quality of the mat itself, it looks good and durable, and so far it works fine.

LeapFrog Leapster Educational Game: The Incredibles

Out of all the games my son has (around 10), this is the worst of them. It is confusing and very difficult to use. The activities seem interesting but when you try to do something, the controls just dont work well. I tried the activities so I could explain my son how to play (first time I have to do that with a leapster game) and couldnt finish them !!. Do not recommend this game.

LeapFrog Little Leaps Dora the Explorer: Discovering Words and Language
I bought this for my 2 yrs old son. He just loves Dora and Boots. It teaches languages spanish and english and also it teaches numbers and decision making. Kids are part of the story, teaching them about choices. A Great and cute game to have for a boy or girl.

LeapFrog My First LeapPad Orange

My daughter likes her My First Leappad, but after several months use, the pen has wires showing! I called Leapfrog and after a series of frustrating phone calls, I find out that they don't make the replacement pen for the My First Leappad anymore! At first the customer service agent told me they have the pen and I paid for it. The package I recieved in the mail had an old leappad system that doesn't work and 2 pens that don't fit my leappad. When I called back, it was a 2 hour ordeal. Finally, I spoke with a supervisor who told me that despite the fact that it was their mistake, I had to pay to ship everything back to them, then they would refund my money! This is our first LeapFrog product. Grandma got it for our 1 year old and he has really enjoyed pushing the buttons. He is not old enough to us it fully but will be soon. We were really impressed with how clear the voice is. It makes the hard c sound, and so on, and you can really hear it. We were sad to see the stickers were peeling off after only a day (and he didn't even suck on it) but a little glue seems to have done the trick. The bus roof is perfect for a little guy to carry it around with too.
