I bought this for my 10-year-old son who loves sciene and taking things apart. I wasn't too sure about the kit when I ordered it but my son took to it immediately. There are 130 experiments and he went through about 40 of them the first three days. I thought he would burn out and told him to pace himself, but he just h-a-d to do the most demanding experiments.

I watched as he made all the connections. To me, it looked like a dreary task, but he liked it. It could take 10 minutes to connect the wires per the diagram to make a light work or to make a sound.

A month later, he had completed everything there was to do, but he then started finding his own discoveries via experimenting outside the guide.

I bought this for christmas for my 21 month old. I have mixed feelings on this one. My daughter is just too young for this. The reaction time from when she hits the buttons to the action on the TV is just a little slow. She can't compregend that pressing a button on the console makes something happen on the TV. Therefore, it never grabs her attention. She just prefers to pound on the console itself. Even that only holds her attention for a few minutes. I will say she does throw it, knock it over, steps on it sits on it and pounds on it but it has not broken yet. She also figured out how to remove the cartridge, which she likes to chew on and how to press the power button (which is a big bright blue lighted button) which talks when you press it. ... The game is OK, but I think the mechanics are a little flawed. Some things are not initially explained on the game-play and it can be frustrating for a child to grasp ESPECIALLY for the target age-group. I play these games with my Son and they just aren't designed all that well. It's passable, but don't think that this game will keep your toddler all that engaged. I also dislike the 2 tries and then give the answer on parts of the game (I understand why it's done, but it fails to teach any kind of perseverance.)

Bottom line - we had to return this cartridge after a few days because it has a bug - at least in our cartridge and when played on our Leapster 2, the tangram (window allignment) game gets stuck and says not everything is covered (it happens in all three levels) - and from then on you can't play it, because it returns to that same stage. But other than that it's a good game, and we returned it with the hope of repurchasing it when Leapfrog fix the bug...

The game has 4 assignments and 3 arcade games you can play with the money you earned on the assignments.
In other reviews and in the leapfrog site I didn't see a mention of what the arcade games are, so here goes: 1) snake (25 cents)

i'm giving this to my 3 yr old son when we go to disneyworld. so he has not tried it yet. but he loves the backyardigans so i'm hoping it will entertain him for a little while. i read other reviews that it is not very educational n more like a video. that's fine w/me as long as he likes it (even for a few minutes).

I bought this for my grandson, who is 3. He liked the racing games and loved the big green foot. I think he'll get more into the games as he gets used to the Smart Cycle. I thought the content was great.

My 3-year old granddaughter fell in love with it immediately for it's looks. Now she lies on the floor and plays with it more hours a day than anything else she does. I love it's educational value and it's ability to put her at ease with a keyboard, mouse, and screen.

First comment of the product is the quality of video is not for 42" Plasma TV. The product is to be run on a smaller TV set. As when I run it on the wide screen TV, it becomes digital pixels.

Secondly, the mouse is something for kid to learn how to use a mouse, but I think it is too small, and there is no way to detech the mouse.

Overall, it is ok, there are still a few things my son can learn.
