Our kids have had a V.Smile for a number of years, we graduated to the pocket this year. Obviously we knew exactly what to expect from an educational and entertainment perspective, there is clearly no difference there. The screen on this machine is horribly disappointing though. There is a lot of ghosting on the screen, etc. LCD tech in this thing reminds me of the poor quality TFTs that were being produced about 15 years ago.
I was hesitant to get this for my daughter. She was 4 1/2 and I thought I should wait until she's in Kindergarten... WRONG! She wanted it so we got it and it is her FAVORITE! She has about 14 Leapster games and this one was BY FAR the one she plays with the most. And the best part is shes learning upper and lowercase letters and their sounds... its just such a great reinforcer to what she kind of knew already. Awesome.

What can you say about an ink refill, except that it works as good as the original. No problems with it. I got the Fly Fusion for my daughter to use in high school, but I carried it with me in Mexico to translate menus, store items, etc. Really an excellent product.
This keyboard is bright and colorful and very durable. Right now my 3.5 year old seems content to just bang on it, but I think he will grow into it. The only problem is the microphone (which he loves) -- you have to be very close to it to make a sound. But overall, a good basic keyboard. (I am not much into commercialized or character themed toys, so this one was perfect. It is a different color than in the photo, though. It is red and blue.)
My son cant put this game down; I bought it thinking that I will have to save it for a while because he is in 1st grade and doesnt know multiplication or division, how wrong I was. He tried the game and even though he doesnt know all the answers he can play and defeat all the bad guys. By the time he gets to 3rd grade Im sure he will know all his time tables. Im glad I bought it.
It didn't leak, well at least not yet, but it sure felt like it was going to given its construction. The kids loved seeing and controlling the whirlpool size.
My son (7) loves inserting his money and seeing the total rise! He thinks it's pretty cool to have his own ATM card.
My only reservation is that the procedure for tallying the money is a little confusing, and we have had to clear out the total and start again for an accurate count. He's pretty well gotten the hang of it now, but younger children would probably need assistance.

I bought this for my 10 month old for Christmas. He loves playing with it. The lights catch his attention and he loves pushing all the buttons to hear it make animal noises and play music. It also has a microphone to sing along. It is very educational and my 3 year old has just as much fun playing with it.

I bought this for my niece when she was a yr old and she seemed to like it. So this christmas I bought it for my 11 month old....she seems to like it. Doesnt keep her interest that long, but then again..what does?? It seems durable as she yanks and plays with that dancing bear that spins around. The songs arent overly annoying but we did joke around that it seems the same lady talks for all the talking toys. The price has jumped a bit since we bought it, but its a pretty good toy.

We love the idea of this toy, different types of food, colors, and even letters. There are a few problems with it though. The little fridge unit keeps sliding down our fridge. Not sure if it's because we live in Japan and have a Japanese fridge or if the magnets just aren't strong enough for the weight. Not a big deal, we're going to use some double sided tape to keep it up. Also, the little door is hard to open. Even my nearly three year old asks me to open it for her so it's impossible for my 17 month to open it herself. Of course she loves to close the door. Also, some of the pieces are hard to take out of the fidge once they are in. It's a great concept for a toy and would be wonderful with a few changes. Both my daughters love it and play ...
