I bought this puzzle for my nephew who just turned 3. I had previously bought one for my 1 year old daughter. She loves it so much and has actually learned her letters from this puzzle and that is why I bought one for her cousin. It is a great puzzle. Some of the pictures behind the letter are an odd choice for little kids, but they don't care. And if you have dogs, be careful because they chew up easily due to the wood-type material they are made out of. Our "T" is all chewed up now, but still works. I love Melissa and Doug toys. My next purchase will be the "Numbers" puzzle because my daughter is now starting take interest in counting. Anyway, if you have a young child who is old enough to start learning the alphabet, this is a great ... Read More:

My two year old son received the Fix-It-Up Johnny Tractor for his birthday from an uncle who farms. He was excited to play with this tractor and "fix it". He loves tinkering with tools "just like daddy". It seemed like a great toy. However, after a couple days of frequent play with the tractor, we noticed some design flaws. First, the top of the storage compartment which holds the screwdriver and gas can is always popping off. We were repeatedly being asked to "put it back" by our son. Finally, after a couple weeks of this, I just threw the compartment cover away, so this issue wouldn't come up again. The other thing that puzzles us about this tractor is how to really get it to start the voice commands which explain what part of the tractor needs ... Read More:

We can't get enough of these habitats! They are so convenient! We usually have three on hand, with one always in the minivan. They work so well because they fold down and go in a storage bag when not in use so that they can be stored almost anywhere very easily. They give whatever is in them a nice airy environment, and the white mesh and clear top make for pretty unobstructed viewing. The only drawback is that the mesh, as can be expected, is not the sturdiest of materials and can be ripped. We have taped a couple of small tears back together, but they do eventually become beyond repair. However, for the price and the fun, good use that is gotten from them, they are a great buy.

My one-year old is just not interested in this toy at all! I can't imagine a 6-month old being interested in this either, despite the description. I would not purchase again or recommend. I found a little play laptop at Target for $20, which allows my baby to bang on the keyboard, play with the mouse, it makes noises...that was a much better toy for her.
Parents who judge education systems/software by ability to keep the attention of today's ADD children regardless of actual educational content may like this. They'll be the only ones though since there is no educational content. "I love birthday parties, yeah" - "They're here, let the party begin" - "oink oink". This is all we here from these machines when we use them, which isn't often. Kids click on the pictures to elicit related and often unrelated noises - that is it. There is little actual phonics training. The phonics "games" only ask about one softball question per minute surrounded by a lot of ADD attention getting fluff. These are entertainment systems, not educational systems. We should note that the Leapfrog brand DVDs we have are not like ... Read More:
My two-year old and I really love this book. The little touch leappad is wonderful!! I love the way it can change as you move from level one to three. It is fun to explore each book. This one has cute music.

Of all the toys my 20-month son has, this is the one he loves the most.
Pros:
1. He gets to learn how/where to touch different area and get responses. It's not very hard for him to press. He gradually learns more ways to play as he gets to know the story better. He is a very curious boy and it's an excellent learning experience for him.
2. It's great for us to read with him. He like it better than reading normal books with us, because we can teach him how to find new ways to touch/read the book.
Cons:
1. As others said, on/off and volume button are not positioned well, although it's not a problem now after he gets tired of those tricks. Also, needs to hold the off key to turn it off. This is different from most toys we have.
