LeapFrog LittleTouch LeapPad Educational Book: Guess How Much I Love You

This was a little pricey but much cheaper than some of the other vendors. The book is exactly as I expected: sweet, cute and with an English narrator. It has the characteristic muted iilustrations so not the attention grabber of some of the other volumes, but it is a classic.

This is an excellent teaching tool. I have been using this at home with my own children. They also use it when they play school. It has a variety of teaching levels(from on the hour to time story problems) so one child can get at least three years of learning out of this clock.

Got this for my 4.5 yr old. I think I paid almost $50. For that, I did not expect a plastic lightweight. At least it's a plug-in & does not use batteries. Although, the illumination really doesn't add much. It's been tumbled around a little bit by my 1.5 yr old & survived. I was afraid the single light would be broken. It has been useful to show my 4.5 old where our family/friends are from around the world. The little pictures got her attention. But again, for the money, it should at least be bigger (so the smaller countries can be more prominent) & with brighter illumination. I will be getting a separate US map puzzle to teach the states.

They have had this book/cartridge for just about a year and absolutely love finding and interacting with the baby and his/her objects in this book. Their favorite page is still the baby face where they touch a part of the baby and then point to their corresponding part. It is highly durable. My boy twin loves to tear up every book he can find and I can say he has not been able to rip, tear, or chew this book apart. They even love to carry the book around for "independent" reading.

My 2 year old twins love "Let's Get Busy Baby" and ask for the "pink baby" it all the time. They have had this book/cartridge for just about a year and absolutely love finding and interacting with the baby and his/her objects in this book. Their favorite page is still the baby face where they touch a part of the baby and then point to their corresponding part. It is highly durable. My boy twin loves to tear up every book he can find and I can say he has not been able to rip, tear, or chew this book apart. They even love to carry the book around for "independent" reading.

FLY Through™ Spelling

It's a fun way to encourage kids to practice spelling. They can put their spelling words in one (fly)paper, then play games in different (fly)papers. There are many games my daughter (about 9 years old) enjoys. They can earn "money" by playing games and get their spelling words correctly. Then they use the "money" to purchase food or other things for their "pets". My daughter can sit and "play" with it for a long time, so she can buy goodies for her pets. She learns to spell very difficult words with it, without getting intimidated.
The only thing I wish is it would give definitions to the words. It does give pronunciation, which is helpful. But there are no synonyms given to each word. I try to ask my daughter the meaning of some words, but ... Read More:

Insect Lore Ant Hill

I remember doing that old ant farm kit when I was little (too long ago now, I know) and saw this new-style ant hill next to that ant farm on a store shelf. That old ant farm hasn't changed in (okay, I'm admitting it here) over 30 years! The new dome-like style of this one, and the idea that we could see what the ants were doing both above ground and below ground appealed to us. We did buy both styles though - my kids wanted to try them all (the AntHill was the better of the two, even though I admit to rooting for the old-school style out of pure nostalgia.
