My 5yr old daughter has a very vivid imagination and loves to play store or restaurant. After looking into many other cash registers I decided on this one for Christmas. She loved it! She especially likes the scanner part. The drawer opens and it comes with play money, paper and coins. It is also educational because it have letters on the keys and food items and talks. Perfect for her to ring us out and learn more at the same time!
Can be used to help teach about giving change too!Fisher-Price Fun-2-Learn 2-In-1 Learning Cash Register

The mat does what it says it does, but when you actually get it and experience the simplicity of it, it doesn't really engage you. At least it didn't engage my Kindergartener (5 1/2 yr old), or my 1st grader both of whom got bored easily. I bought it because my kindergartner is starting addition this semester, and I thought it would be a fun way to learn, but the mat does nothing to make learning fun (e.g. no fun noises, no games that make you arrive at the correct answer, etc). You accomplish the same by taking a piece of paper and writting down simple additions and subtractions, or taking a mic and asking your child what 2+ 2 is.
In terms of the quality of the mat itself, it looks good and durable, and so far it works fine. ... Read More:
Out of all the games my son has (around 10), this is the worst of them. It is confusing and very difficult to use. The activities seem interesting but when you try to do something, the controls just dont work well. I tried the activities so I could explain my son how to play (first time I have to do that with a leapster game) and couldnt finish them !!. Do not recommend this game.

LeapFrog Little Leaps Dora the Explorer: Discovering Words and Language
I bought this for my 2 yrs old son. He just loves Dora and Boots. It teaches languages spanish and english and also it teaches numbers and decision making. Kids are part of the story, teaching them about choices. A Great and cute game to have for a boy or girl.
This is our first LeapFrog product. Grandma got it for our 1 year old and he has really enjoyed pushing the buttons. He is not old enough to us it fully but will be soon. We were really impressed with how clear the voice is. It makes the hard c sound, and so on, and you can really hear it. We were sad to see the stickers were peeling off after only a day (and he didn't even suck on it) but a little glue seems to have done the trick. The bus roof is perfect for a little guy to carry it around with too.

I have a daughter that will be going into Kindergarten next year. My wife and I bought her a LeapPad and two software modules for it for Christmas last year thinking it would help her get a bit of a head start before starting school.
While my daughter doesn't play with this on her own, she likes using this software with me or my wife. It seems like she is introducing us to characters she liked in Nemo and all the things they can do in this software.
By allowing her to "show us around", she has learned quite a bit from this software. She seems to have fun with it as a kid, and the fact that she is learning is very satisfying for me as a parent.
This is a frustrating product. Yes, the graphics are poor, but that would not matter to me if it worked properly. The pen is nearly impossible to control on the pad. The joystick does not obey the direction that it is moved. It is disappointing.

Perhaps it's that the rest of us--dad, mom, and fourteen-year-old brother--have had years of playing video games with better complexity and far better graphics, but I'm not wowed by any of the Clickstart games. Yes, I know, they're for young children, but even the web-based games for toddlers have better graphics and are sometimes more user-friendly.
That said, my three-year-old does like the Clickstart, and is able to navigate it without help. The Toy Story game isn't all that impressive, for the money, but that's a complaint I have about Clickstart cartridges in general. She enjoys being able to manipulate the familiar characters, and is building some directional skills. Except for the opening sequence with Zurg, however, the characters ... Read More:
