We purchased this for our 8 year old's birthday. Our purpose was two-fold. One, we need him to improve his penmanship, and we thought if he could see where the computer wasn't picking up his writing as text, it would show him where to improve. Secondly, we were going out of town on a business trip and were going to use the pentop to e-mail his written school and homework to his teacher (we got her approval with a test page first).

I was a bit concerned that since you could use the pen to give you answers to math problems, he would take the "easy way out" and have the pen do the work for him. Bought this thinking my daughter who just finished kindergarten would enjoy it. Wrong. She complains it is too easy and I agree. She knows all the animal facts and breezes through the game. My 4 year old niece enjoys it and finds it more challenging.

My daughter received this as a gift for her second birthday. It comes with 3 cartridges of stickers that eject like a polaraid every time she take a picture. Of course, it makes a mess, but it did take her a while to realize that they were stickers, so we just kept putting the stickers back into the cartridges and let her reuse them. Once she realized they were stickers, they were stuck everywhere, and I wondered what to do with the now-empty cartridges. I managed to find a few of the unused stickers and peeled, then stuck them to the inside of the cartridges. Now we have 3 Dora picture cartridges and no polaroids all over the floor. My daughter likes it even better and I don't have a mess to clean up!

My daughter absolutely loves her Webkinz Frog. We are considering buying a different animal shortly. Webkinz is highly educational. They actually have to care for this pet, take it to school and work. Buy food and furniture. I think this teaches responsibility!

it says "First-ever gaming handheld that connects to the computer so kids can customize both gaming and learning." well it does not connect to your computer i have had this game for 2 weeks now and cant get threw to customer service for any help and cannot sync to my mac, i have spent hours thinking im syncing only to find out it hasn't synced.
the only way kids can customize the game is if they can sync sinc, I brought 2 of these games for 2 of my kids i have asked other parents and the ones that brought it either took it back because of the syncing issue or are still struggerling with it like me.
leapfrog knows there is a problem and are still selling this faulty product.....

We now own 6 games for our Smart Cycle... and I swear they are all about the same. Educational factor is minimal at best. He does enjoy his smart cycle and rides it for at least a few minutes nearly every day.... but for the amount of floor space it takes up.... and the serious lack of educational value in the games, I don't think I'd buy it again. Buy whatever game suits your child's interest... but don't bother to buy them all... they're all the same.
