The game is a fun to play, but my kids (6 and 3 years old) didn't quite get it. The board quality is pretty low (just a sheet of molded plastic over a piece of cardboard), and there is no place to hold the pieces besides the flimsy box the game comes in. I don't expect the pieces to stay with the board very long, and will probably have to use a ziploc or something to keep it all together.
The game itself is fun. My 3 year old could push down the popper herself with some effort, and that was her favorite part of the game. I agree with others that younger kids will get frustrated not rolling a 6 to get a piece out of home. I allowed them 2-3 pops to give them a chance to play. The game is more fun with more people, but that also ... Read More:
Set is about pattern-making, but the patterns touch 4 different categories: shape, color, number and shade. My 7 year-old learned the rules in a few minutes, and we were quickly playing. It's an enjoyable, addictive game, but also requiring concentration and focus to succeed. I highly recommend for the game-oriented family with kids 6+.
Okay, I used to love this game. Played it when I was a kid, when we had to draw a new game out on paper each time we played. It was instant nostalgia on plastic game boards, and lots of memories from many many moons ago. And, guess what ~ I still love it. No one else does, or at least the ones who play with me. I have no mercy.
The game doesn't look real sturdy, but will outlast me, probably. I had a bit of a problem getting the play pieces mounted on the play board, but with a little determination, and some surgical trimming with my pocket knife, we got a game underway. The game didn't last long as I sunk my opponents ships one after the other. Nothing like a sore loser in a war game. They want revenge!!
Its chutes and ladders, it should be simple fun. You spin the spinner move your spaces, hit a ladder, go up, hit a chute, come down. There are a lot of fun pictures on the game board, however, it makes it hard to see the numbers, or the directional arrows.
As this game is supposed to be for the super young this becomes a big frustration. The standee pieces are cardboard which is fine but after playing a few games the bottoms or our characters are fraying.
They made it cheap to be affordable, so you get what you pay for here.
I have fond memories of playing this game as a child, but I don't know why. Have you played it recently with your own kids? You are NEVER going to get to the end. Even the kids can't hang in there on their never ending journey to Candy Land. They grow tired of it after reaching the candycanes. By the time you get to the last stretch of road and your hopes are high, you will inevitably pull a licorice card and be sent back towards the beginning. It never fails.
The pros of Candy Land are:
A) If your kid is able to hang in there, he/she would be reviewing their colors and counting
B) Reaching Candy Land is JOYOUS because the misery has finally ended
C) It teaches patience. Be patient, be patient, be patient, ... Read More:
I purchased this game for my ten year old son who happens to love both the Beatles and Monopoly. It couldn't be a better gift. I highly recommend it for anyone who is familiar with those four guys from Liverpool. Even the people who are not (all five of them) will enjoy playing.
I don't think it's funny if a child is scared or otherwised offended by this game. By no means is "fear" a measure of a child's worth now or when they grow up. Actually, it's plain common sense to dislike a game that has such graphic detail on the box. This game should not be suggested for children under 12. Unless your one of those who enjoy blood, guts, & mayhem!

This is a good family fun game. Allows for fun and insight and uniqueness for each person. I really enjoyed playing as a group for an afterdinner party. Good game, not the best I have played, but not the worst either. Good clean fun.
We bought this game for my granddaughter's birthday. It's a type of 20 questions game as you ask the other player different questions so you may figure out who his player is. Example: If your player a man or woman? Does he (she) have blonde hair? You travel along until you are ready to make a guess. We enjoyed playing this. The characters are colorful with some zany faces and hairdo's.
There is one problem however. This game takes a little bit to put together and the cards with the faces on them do not stay well in the plactic holders. We had to stop after each set and fix the cards before we could go on. I think a little improvement in that area would make this game top-notch. Bottom line, it was fun and we did enjoy it.
