My daughter got her Leapster for Christmas this year; along with one game. When I was looking for a second game for her, I found the Thomas one. She is almost 5 and in preschool, and I thought this would be a good one to try. She loves it. She loves Thomas anyway, but this game really holds her attention. She loves collecting tickets, playing the games and reading the stories.
We have 3 boys, ages 3, 5, and 7. We were trying to hold out on video games since it will probably be inevitable at some point, but this Leapster is not your typical video game. They are learning a lot and are most definitely using their brains while they're playing. We have a few games, some letter/word ones as well as math. And they all love to play with it- it was very easy for them to just pick up and start playing. Even the 3-yr old. It goes through batteries pretty quickly, but we use an old portable DVD player car adapter cord with it in the car now and the same player's regular power cord if we use it in the house, so batteries are not an issue anymore! Highly recommend this product.

Very bright and fun. My baby is a little too young (8 months) to press the keys completely each time, but I am sure she will enjoy it as she gets bigger. She loves shaking the beads on the leap frog tag.

This is one of my son's favorite Leapster cartridges. One "trick" that he discovered is that one can play the games for different letters without having to trace/write any of them. As other reviewers have correctly pointed out the tracing can be too demanding and frustrating, especially for the younger children. This is my son's work-around: After playing the "A" game, press the "Home" button on the Leapster, and then return to the games and one then gets the game for letter "B" just as if one had completed tracing the previous letter. This allows even the younger kids, like my son, who cannot trace well yet to still enjoy this cartridge immensely. There are different games for different letters. The "A" game which unfortunately comes first, is ... Read More:

This book is great! My son loves it! He is obsessed with Cars so this was a no-brainer to buy. The games inside it have helped him not only with his numbers, but also sequencing and drawing within lines. He plays this for hours! The only complaint I have with LeapPad books is that they are really easy to crease/fold. When he turns the pages, he tends to fold or wrinkle them. Otherwise, a game I totally recommend!
My son got V.Smile two Christmas ago and still loves to play it. The graphics are great for young kids. As he gets older, he's now 5 the games can grow with him. This year for christmas were getting him the key board attachment and jammin gym class. He's learned so much since he first got it. The progression amazes me when I see him spelling or reading words that he wasn't able to before. I even think he enjoys the games more as he gets older. What I really like is that the games can be used at an easy or harder levels so as he learns more he can still enjoy it and it's still a challenge.
The Smartridge game cartridges start from age 3 and go up to age 12. He loves the games so I hope it can hold him off for a couple more years until ... Read More:
This is a nicely done and durable toy that provides little opportunity and creativity for play and does not interest my baby at all. The only thing it does, is bending according to the strings and bouncing back into its original shape. I bought it for my baby when she was six months old and now, two months later, she has maybe played a total of 2 hours with it. Save your money and invest it in something more useful, e.g. wooden building blocks.
I purchased this game for my son since he enjoys the I Spy series books and for the most part he enjoys the game, although his initial reaction was that the game is not challenging enough?
I bought this game with a few other puzzles & magnetic games for my niece and nephew's birthday. They really enjoyed them and are fine tuning motor skills while haveing fun.
