This entertains my 7 week old daughter for about 15-20 mins giving me some much needed hands free time. She loves staring at the black and white arches. This is a must play mat!
My kids are doing all kinds of things with these toys, as they should be. They are sturdy and resilient and can be used in water, dirt, sand, just about anywhere! They have held marbles, cars, pompoms, snacks, water and tiny animals. They have been used as hats, stool, spinning seats, water buckets, animal caves, baby rockers and mountains.
I bought this for my 3 year old niece, and she loved it. It was her favorite gift out of all of her birthday gifts! I think it might be just a little bit advanced for her age, but it is definitely something she can use for quite some time.

My brother got this toy one year when he was 5 and I was 8. It was so annoying, I grabbed it away from him one day and proceeded to bash him repeatedly on the head until my Mother took me over her lap and proceeded to give me a good old fashioned spanking. My brother was ok aside from some bruises and an intense fear of popping sounds. To this day you can NOT pop Popcorn around him without setting off a panic attack.
I have a daughter that will be going into Kindergarten next year. My wife and I bought her a LeapPad and two software modules for it for Christmas last year thinking it would help her get a bit of a head start before starting school.
While my daughter doesn't play with this on her own, she likes using this software with me or my wife. It seems like she is introducing us to characters she liked in Nemo and all the things they can do in this software.
By allowing her to "show us around", she has learned quite a bit from this software. She seems to have fun with it as a kid, and the fact that she is learning is very satisfying for me as a parent.

I bought two of these Vtech systems for my nephew and niece. The controller on the first system (got it from ebay for about $25) stopped working after a few months but my sister was not sure whether the problem was in the controller or the system so I sent her another one (got it from Amazon marketplace for $30) and the problem turned out to be in the controller. However, for the price that I paid I really don't mind that I have bought 2. The educational value of the games is great. My nephew was a little older than 6 when he first started playing with it. After a while he learned the name of the continents, some math, and some vocabulary. My sister and her husband were delighted especially that English is not our first language. The only thing that I ... Read More:

My very rambunctious daughter had these when she was a baby 5 years ago. She never liked them but she always wanted vigorous play. I have to buy them again as I only have 1 left and my 5 month old son loves it. Easy to pick up, soft to chew, and I don't have to worry about him hurting himself. Personality-wise he is more laid back. I think these are great if your child is okay with something that doesn't have flashing lights and music.
We bought the Music 'n Play table for my son for his 1st birthday. He loves it! He mostly plays on the music side, but I think he will like playing with the other side as he gets older. He especially loves to be able to stand on his own playing the piano. We just lean it against a sturdy piece of furniture while he's playing because it will slide if he leans his weight against it. He has even started "dancing" to the music when it plays. I think he'll be playing with it for a long time.

In an effort to avoid the sea of generic plastic toys I purchased the play cube for my daughter. She has shown very little interest in it.
When she was first standing, she would use the metal "maze" tracks to pull up on. If nothing else, it's a testament to how sturdy they are. At different times she played with the gears and top maze.
Overall though, this has been one of her least used toys. Even the various cheap toys she has received as gifts get pulled out of their bins every now and then. The cube, however, is just taking up space.
It's certainly a high quality toy, but it just may not excite every kid - which hurts a little given the cost.
