Wooden Shoe Lacing Peg Puzzle

This shoe lacing puzzle is a very cute idea, but I think it'd be better if it was left for just lacing purposes, not a puzzle. The pieces come apart and are held in by velcro. It can be a little difficult for a young child to get the piece exactly where it needs to be because of that. The lacing idea is great, but with the shoes being separate pieces, they come apart easily when a child is trying to pull the laces which can make it frustrating.

This puzzle is a step up in difficulty from standard peg puzzles as it has three pieces in each vehicle that must be fitted together, but not as hard as a standard jig-saw puzzle. The child gets "rewarded" for completing each vehicle by the different sounds (sirens) the puzzle makes. The sounds are realistic but not annoying as they aren't overly loud and don't last too long.

My 2/3 year old likes this puzzle like other good puzzles. But I can't imagine have 4 of them around. It's better to have diversity when it comes to puzzles. Have different themes, different brands, different sizes, or they get too bored too quickly.

Another wonderful puzzle made by Melissa & Doug! My 2 yr. old grandson enjoys the animal pieces. I highly recommend all Melissa & Doug puzzles.

We purchased this two-puzzle package for a little one in our extended family. She's just over a year old.

As always, we love the sturdiness, durability, and bright colors of these Melissa and Doug products. This is a good buy for the money, especially since we would have paid this price for EACH puzzle in a local store.

Nice size boards and substantial pieces for little hands. The knobs also help develop dexterity for little ones who are just learning about the puzzle process.
