I purchased these from the local WalMart for my 3 year old daughter. Upon opening them, I found that the screw which held the battery lid on had been stripped at the head. This made it impossible to get a phillips screwdriver in there. With some brute force and a flat screwdriver, I was able to open it and install the 9 volt battery. They advertise a 40 foot range on these units. I can honestly say that they do not work past 15 feet, and 10 feet is about the limit of usable signal. Unfortunately, at 10 feet, the person talking from across the room into their walkie talkie is drowning out the speaker on yours. These are the latest in another round of "Made in China" toys for our kids that just don't pass muster. You'll be saving yourself ... Read More:

This sounded like a great idea, but when we actually tried to use the walkie talkies, they hardly worked. My two kids were only one room apart and they couldn't hear each other. They could hear okay when the were in the same room--but what fun is that? we did enjoy mixing the parts with other Cranium toys. We have the boys' mega masks--all the parts interchange perfectly.

I bought this headset for my sons for christmas who are 3yrs & 5yrs. These headsets were adjustable, but at the largest size were still to
tight on their little heads. These headsets must have been sized for
an infants head instead of a kids head. Even my 3yr old couldn't wear
them. The two stars is only for the ability for the boys to talk to each
other, but they have to move the earphones up to their ears to hear since
they can not wear them on their heads. You get what you pay for, so if
you have kids with extremely little heads this is the headset for you.
Otherwise get a better set and spend the extra $.

I ordered these walkie talkies from Amazon in early April to be given to our Grandson on his 5th birthday on May 2. He was so excited to get them when he opened his present...My husband inserted the batteries that came with the walkie talkies, and they never worked for even a second. Not only was it a big waste of time and money, our grandson was just broken hearted that his birthday present never worked.. I was ashamed of myself that I fell for the adversting on this product.

My three year old was so excited to spend his own money from selling an old toy at a yard sale. He loves Spiderman, and picked these out (not bought at Amazon). I put the batteries in, and we can't hear anything except some static. I tried to raise the "antenna arm" except I raised the wrong arm and it snapped right off. $20 down the drain and my toddler has nothing but a broken toy, and I feel like an awful mom for breaking it. Worst toy we've bought in a long time. I threw out the box at McDonalds, so I probably can't even return it.

I bought the Wolverine-Spiderman walkie talkies for my boyfriend's son for Christmas. Unfortunately, after we put in the batteries and tried to play with them, we realized that all they did was buzz. You could only faintly hear the other persons voice through all the static. Amazons solution? The walkie talkies should not be used in or around the house because of potential radio interference. I would not buy if you actually want to use them for walkie talkies.
