When I oreder this DVD I thought I owuld have a gift for my wife in time for her birthday. I even e-mailed this person to ask if I could pay additional fees fro a faster mailing service. The e-mail was returned. I went to the store front for this individual and it was closed. Amazon stood beside thier policy and refunded my money. After that the DVD cam in 10 days late. I had already ordered another DVD. I have it now unopened If you want the DVD back say so. I do not need it.

I watched this movie for the first time in 1999, after I accidentally picked it up from a public library. Even though I don't like to use superlatives as I inevitably end up changing my mind, this movie is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best movie I have ever seen. I still haven't changed my mind for the past 10 years!

It's just beautiful... like a postcard. It takes place between London and Paris in the 1950's, with all their charm. Part of the story takes place in the House of Dior in Paris where Mrs Harris (promounced 'Arris by her French friends) tries to purchase the dress of her dreams after she worked very hard to save every penny of its price. Ok. For starters this is an adorable little movie about one "orphans" struggle to belong and find happiness. Its not supposed to be historicaly accurate it never CLAIMED to be historically accurate. Your supposed to take it for what it is instead of throwing and excpecting all these hidden meanings in it. Yes, Rasputen is a very graphic character but any reviews of him "scarring your children for life" should be COMPLETELY disregarded as having a very wimpy child and nothing more. For christs sake people, its a cartoon. Now I don't reccomend anyone under the age of 4 watching this movie alone. A childs greatest comfort is its parents/guardians so take a break and watch it together. Almost eliminates the chance for being scared. I give it 5 stars and btw, ... Read More:

This is truly a GREAT suspense film with believable characters and excellent actors, director, and story. Ingrid Bergman as the helpless wife and Charles Boyer as the manipulative husband are excellent. The eerie mood that keeps building is highly effective, and Angela Lansbury's performance was memorable even though short. Well worth seeing several times, as I did. The black and white color, the foggy night scenes in the glow of the street gaslights couldn't be more befitting for this story.

Has all the subtlety of an elephant's tread. A group of American soldiers are kidnapped by Russkies, brainwashed to assassinate a Presidential Candidate. The man chosen to do the job is the very wooden Harvey doing all sorts of facial-contortions that are supposed to be passed off as acting. The most debilitating part of the movie is the absurdity of watching that Italian Club-Singer trying, you guessed it, act. Of all the bad looking rats to have ever disgraced America Cinema, Sinatra must take the cake. Few females are thereabouts doing exactly nothing! Few blacks are so generously included in the movie's cast - not real blacks really but light-skinned mullato types.
