This has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies...a reminder of what is most important - the loved ones in our lives-- and how easy it is to get caught up in the miseries of the world - and forget the Magic.

THIS IS A GREAT ADAPTATION OF THE MICHAEL CRIGHTON CLASSIC SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL...THE MOVIE IS CERTAINLY DATED BECAUSE OF THE OLD TIMEY SPECIAL EFFECTS, BUT IT FAITHFULLY FOLLOWS THE BOOK...I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE MINI-SERIES AND WANTED TO VIEW BOTH TO COMPARE HOW THEY HAVE HELD UP TO CHANGES IN TECHNOLOGY...SO...IF YOU'RE A FAN OF SCIENCE-FICTION GET BOTH AND COMPARE/CONTRAST THE OLD WITH THE NEW...I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE WHO BUYS THIS MOVIE READ THE BOOK AND SEE FOR YOURSELF

Films buffs will want to know that the Spanish R2 'Mundo Futuro' DVD is missing footage. There are four cuts totaling 2.5 minutes of missing footage:
1. The pre-credit sequence is missing.
2. Some dialoge during the press invite, round table scene.
3. When Peter Fonda explores the remains of Westworld.
4. Dialogue at the very end.
Until a better version is released, your best bet is to pick up the R2 UK full frame edition which includes all of the above cuts.

Besides this being just a flat out great detective story, it has style and character. It's great entertainment, and solid acting from all involved like Robert Wagner, Julie Harris and Arthur Hill. If you like beautiful damsels in distress, you won't find one anymore lovely than actress Pamela Tiffin. I also love the two extras on the DVD. Introduction by TCM host Robert Osborne and commentary by the actual screenwriter William Goldman. If you love classic detective drama, this is a must have.

For those of us who were old enough to see "Making Love" when it first came out over a quarter century ago, a second look is well worth it. At the time, this film was considered groundbreaking, if not overly deep, but one is reminded that this was a pre-AIDS era and one where gay themes had not yet been tackled in a two-hour film.
The story is simple enough...a triangulation of people in love and a marriage which fails due not to any malicious intent. While the acting is not exactly gripping, it does have a poignancy and relevance to 2008. "Making Love" could be made today with some minor changes, but the core of the film is good.

I first caught this movie when it was rerun back in 94...though I missed the first half (and it took me another 6 mos or so before I got to see the movie in its entirety, LOL), what I saw had a powerful impact, to say nothing of the fine acting jobs by Dana Hill as Jennifer, the confused pre-teen looking for an adult she can trust during the difficult times she's going through, and Richard Masur as Howard, the softball coach/pedophile who slowly lures Jennifer into his child pornography ring with the kindness and understanding she needs (he dubs her "Angel", the same pet name he gave his last victim, hence the film's title), then gradually turning to manipulation and further alienation of Jennifer from her mother (Melinda Dillon) and soon-to-be stepfather ... One of my 2 favorite movies, but prepare the tissues because you WILL shed a couple of tears. It's a drama so younger viewers my not appreciate it, but if you're looking for a GREAT storyline and acting, this is one to watch

This is a somewhat different presentation of a bank-robbery story involving an alcoholic computer expert blackmailed into service by some really sickening dudes who have kidnapped his son. The head robber, code name Bellman, is a ghastly individual, as is his particularly unpleasant henchman, Gort.
Gort gets killed during the robbery in a horrific accident, an extremely disturbing scene that merely underscores the Bellman's coldness. The accident portrayed is so unexpected, so heretofore out-of-place in this film, that its impact upon the viewer is stunning. And at the same time, it could not have happened to a nicer guy.
This is a good movie to see once. It's probably not one you'll want to view again, but you will want to lend it ... Read More:
