Sean Connery returns to play the super-secret-agent fot the third time, following Dr.No and From Russia with Love. I saw this in my Dad's home-theatre. He is, a great Sean Connery Fan and has all the Connery films in his collection. Gert Frobe is the villian of the title in the company of Oddjob. Bernard Lee returns as M and Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny. The script by Paul Dehn and Richard Maibaum is well plotted and entertaining. But the best part is still the titles. John Barry wrote the great music.
Even in the tiny town of Coonoor, in the Nilgiris Mountain ranges, the film ran to packed houses, and Connery became a house-hold name.

By the time Jack Nicholson shows up for about five minutes of screen time as Garrett Breedlove, this turgid 1996 sequel to 1983's Terms of Endearment has already slogged through two deaths, a psychotherapist with an Oedipal complex, and a lot of scrapbooks. The problems with this shamelessly manipulative movie are many, and they all begin with the inevitable premise that tough Texas matron Aurora Greenway can carry on without being challenged by her feisty daughter Emma. However, without Debra Winger's earthy grit counterbalancing Shirley MacLaine's flamboyant disapproval, the story seems to work in a vacuum. This musical "The Music Man" Starring Robert Preston, Shirley Jones, Ron Howard & others has always been one of my all time favorite musical's. I have this VHS film of this movie, which i have had for a long time. It's a Great Musical, but do yourself a favor & buy it now on DVD & make sure you get the one on Widescreen. In my opinion, it makes all the difference in the world as far as Quality goes to be able to have it on Widescreen period. This is definitely true for the Classic Epic Film's.

A sweet, heart-warming film about a brave little girl who remains cheerful and optimistic despite her tragic circumstances. It's like watching a children's version of Gone With The Wind, and possibly one of Shirley's best performances. An interesting footnote: the movie does not openly proclaim in which region of the Confederacy it takes place, but there are plenty of hints for the observant:
1) Shirely's character name is "Virgie," short for Virginia.
2) An opening scene depicts tobacco fields.
3) Virgie's father crosses back and forth between enemy lines throughout the movie, hinting at a hotly contested region.
4) There are several references to Gen. Lee--who served mostly in Virginia.

The War Lover simply tells the tale of two B-17 pilots in love with Daphne Caldwell (Shirley Anne Field) during the middle of WWII. To make things a little more complex (and of course a little more interesting), Capt Buzz Rickson (played by Steve McQueen) is a strong leader of his crew and the other pilot in love with Daphne is in his crew (Lt. Ed Bolland, played by Robert Wagner). The frustrating piece to Buzz is that Ed is winning the war of love.

My Likes:
A story about WWII, especially one about air crews. I've been fascinated for some time in bomber crews and what they went through.
