Perhaps not their best movie but a favorite of A&C fans because it contains some of their classic routines, including the "Who's on First" bit. There is also a great schtick where Lou is looking through a porthole, his face covered in shaving cream, and Joe Sawyer looks out, also lathered up, and thinks he's seeing his own image in a mirror. The weird thing is they don't look anything alike. The picture has something to do with the boys working on a riverboat and getting involved with gamblers, but the plot is its least important concern. The ending is classic A&C slapstick shenanigans. Fun to watch.

I am a huge animal lover, but somehow I had never seen this movie. The "Christian the lion" clip really got me interested in that story which led me to this story.
This movie was positively fantastic. The storyline was heartwarming in itself, but the landscape was breathtaking.
This movie was a real treat and I am sure that I will enjoy watching it again and again.

My two-year-old has an obsession with elephants so I did a little research to try and find something for her to watch besides Dumbo and Babar. I came across this video and actually ended up getting this and Born Free, which has the same actors. To be honest, we never made it through this movie the first several times we tried to watch it -- it seemed a little slow in the beginning. However, once we had watched Born Free five hundred times we decided to give this one another try and I'm so glad we did because this movie is absolutely darling. Every time we watch this film I love it more than the last. It really doesn't have much of a plot, it is really more of an educational tour of the wildlife of Kenya loosely tied to the story of the actors (who play themselves ... Read More:

I sure wish this were available on dvd. Just great performances from Diana Rigg, Dame Judi, and Helen Mirren. Just imagine the best performance of MND and relax if you can hunt down a used copy of this because you just found it.
I have to admit i love this movie. Growing up as a kid, i always use to love watching the classic dinosaur movies. Wether it was stop motion animation or the man in the rubber suit routine like the Godzilla movies. Wether or not you like Gorgo, this movie has the most realistic, incredible special effects out of most of the giant monster films. No stop motion animation here, just an actor in a rubber suit stomping through miniatures. You'll have to squint your eyes pretty close to tell if the London landmarks are models.
Anyways i've had an old VHS copy of this movie for years, but recently ordered the DVD, which i hope is a bit of an improvement in picture quality and sound. I have not seen the widescreen version yet, but am looking forward to receiving my copy as i write this. ... Read More:

While this movie may not be historically accurate, it stands out for two reasons. The acting of Ava Gardner as she portrays a half Indian, half Welsh young woman during one of the most turbulent times in the history of the Indian sub-continent. She was ably supported by a distinguished cast. The second reason is the portrayal of those times. The British had little to be proud about over their management of the sub-continent, but they did leave behind a fully functioning civil service, including the management of the railways. This movie shows the situation perfectly. All in all, this movie is an event not to be missed. The reader who thinks that all the characters ever did was winge and whine obviously knows nothing about the conditions in which the half-casts lived. I recommend this without hesitation.

Laurence Harvey is oddly perfect as Romeo, that girl ought to be edited out of the movie. The scenery is wonderful. It's very elegant and exquisite to watch.
