Marnie starring Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery is a deeply disturbing drama directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Hedren is completely captivating in the title-role, she is so much more effective in this film than The Birds. I won't give away the ending but expect a creepy and complexed climax. This movie isn't considered a Hitchcock classic but it's definitely worth a viewing, enjoy!

This is a 90's film adaptation of Harriet Beecher Stowe's important novel by the same title. This story, and the message of the story, is of utmost significance. It is a tale in 1850's America of slave trading -- buying and selling people like they were property, and of cruel treatment that would be unacceptable for even zoo animals. Obviously, plantation life for the slaves could vary from reasonably comfortable to incredbly inhumane, depending mainly on the owner. The film story demonstrates this well.
There are glimpses of light: the strong Christian belief system and ethics among the slave population, and the good Samaritan acts and sacrifices of those who would aid them. But the general environment and theme is dark and the horror ... Read More:

The War Wagon was a hit when it was first released and is still a great film today. John Wayne and Kirk Douglas have just enough tension to really wonder if they will end up shooting each other or doing the hold up. Excellent addition to any family home film library.

This movie is one movie that most of us had forgotten about. So glad I purchased it. Once again, the man was a true cowboy to the root and this movie never let me down. I am so glad I bought it. Will never give it up and it will be a treasured DVD.

Where most movies about obsessions fail is in trying to make the obsession believable. Notable successes were the creepy The Collector and the classic Psycho (Collector's Edition), notable failures have included Lolita and more recently, Lolita.
I guess the problem is that obsession is such a perfectly internal state that we have no subtle physical markers for it. So the actor playing the obsessed character has to or tends to end up chewing the scenery to remind us that there is some unusual mental state behind his character's odd behavior.
By choosing a marginal character-one whose very vocation has overtones of sadomasochistic fascination, screenwriter Bunel avoids the necessity of writing a cartoonishly weird character and Bruce Dern is free to underplay the part believably. ... Read More:

A great way to relax and have a good laugh. The Captain and his assorted mixed-bag of crew members come together during the ensuing mock trials of securing entrance into two 'guarded' Atlantic Naval Bases with an 'outdated rust-bucket' of a submarine. While a 'higher ranking' officer tries to prevent this happening, the Captain has been given directions to "think like a pirate" by a still higher ranked officer. Highly recommend this movie for a sit-down-popcorn evening with family or friends.

I love the film but... We get a two sides dvd, labeled "standard" and "widescreen". Standard has 640x480 pixels video, 4:3 aspect ratio, and widescreen 853x480 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio. This is great, but the problem is both versions are truncated versions of the original. The widescreen is even more truncated ! If you compare two images, Clint has some blue sky above is hat in standard, and you see only half of his hat in widescreen ! I say it this way to makes things clear, but I'm a tech oriented guy, I checked twice what really was on this dvd before writing this review.
The 16:9 version is cropped from the 4:3 ! This means both versions are missing the sides of the original wide image, but you see more of the original on the 4:3 ! It's a pity to see such classics so poorly transfered to DVD. We need a new ... Read More:

Do not be fooled because it is an old movie. This is just an old black and white but it will thrill your mind. You will never figure out who did it. It is about the only movie I ever saw where Bruce Dern plays a decent guy. He is usually a bad guy and does a good job with that role. In this movie, he is a nice, clean-cut, guy.

Very good comedy by Tom Hanks. Suspicions arise when strange neighbors move in from Europe. When neighbors decide to take matters into their own hands based on their assumptions, things quickly get out of hand.
Very good family Halloween movie.

Made by fx master Douglas Trumbull after 2001, this actually is a very moving plea for the cause of conservation. An earth so polluted that the last forests are put on great space ships like the Valley Forge to roam the outer edges of the solar system, awaiting the call to return home. Instead the reverse order is given. Bruce Dern kills his companions to prevent them from carrying out the order. Folk score by Joan Biaz
