Excellent interpretation of Homer's Odyssey with a rare accurate portrayal of the South of the 1930s. Excellent character actors and outstanding music played in the period style.

I remember the thrill and chills from watching it as a 6 year old! I have waited all these years to watch this and hear the theme song. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Disney did it right. The picture, the sound, and the show was everything I remembered and then some. I am a 50 year old man who for a few hours was that young boy who was mesmerized by the "The Scarecrow."

Just to offer my two cents, now that both versions are on DVD:
Regardless of what aspect ratio it was originally shot in, the full-screen version is indeed pan & scan. I now have both. If you compare the two, you'll see the newer widescreen DVD is not missing any of the picture from the top or bottom. It is the full-screen that is indeed missing the sides.
I never saw it in the theater, so I can't say how it was originally projected.
Either way, it's one of the best films ever (way better than Citizen Kane), so watch it however you want and enjoy.

TYPICALLY I LOVE HOLLY HUNTER, BUT EVEN HER TALENT DID NOT CREATE ANY INTEREST FOR ME. THIS IS MOST LIKELY TOO TRUE TO REALLY ENJOY, A LARGELY DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY--- NOT WORTH PAYING MONEY FOR. JUST STEP NEXT DOOR AND GET THIS FOR FREE.

Death of a salesman is one of the best samples of the american drama that reflects the real life of the dream that is not even reached by american people.
I love Dustin Huffman play but all the characters are amazingly builded which make the sense of being at the teather.

I first saw this movie in the theaters as a teenager, I took my little brothers and sister to see it and it was so good we stayed in the theater for a second showing. My friends and I that watched it when it arrived were all laughing and enjoyed the movie immensly. Something this good never goes out of style.

Excellent film, thoughtful yet entertaining. Not without flaws, surely, and in light of recent events the setting may obscure the story. And it's a good story, one I sorely wish was available in a widescreen DVD edition.
The story is, in fact, about flaws. Flaws at both ends of the spectrum. Youth explores its newly opened world, trying all of its offerings with abandon, testing its boundries, but at what cost? Age conserves its resources, adheres to the safer paths, braised in its own hindsight and supposed wisdom, but at what cost?
MASS APPEAL is not about those in or seeking power. The characters, like you and me, won't move mountains or shake the foundations of the world. But they wrestle with what's right and what's practical in deciding ... Read More:

Donald Sutherland -giving a somwhat somnambulistic and unengaged performance -plays Father Koestler who realises a psychopath is on the loose in Detroit ,leaving as his calling card a rosary clutched in the hands of the victims .As the body count mounts inexorably he tries and fails to get his superiors to take action
The killer then confesses to Koestler and from what he is told Koestler can figure out the how and why and who of the case but ,being under the seal of the confessional ,cannot act upon his knowledge without doing violence to his priestly views
The movie then evolves into an exploration of his dilemma and how it is resolved .
The pace is slow and the dilemma is not a new one in the movies (see I Confess, the Hitchcock movie for a better movie on the ... Read More:

Burt Reynolds is both the star and director of this fast paced action 80's crime thriller based on the story from Elmore Leonard (Get Shorty). Features ground breaking stunts from famous Hollywood stunt man and actor Dar Robinson. Great performances by George Segal and Charles Durning. This film is not yet available on DVD. -sideshowvideo
