I ordered my DVD several weeks ago and am still waiting for it. The estimated time of arrival indicated November 3 at the latest. I also contacted the vendor, but have not received any reply. I am very unhappy at this point.

Most of Nelson and Jeanette films will make you sing and smile and once
in a while make you shed a tear. I always wanted to know why my mom
cried looking at their movies years ago when i sat on her lap while they
played on tv in the early sixties. Now that im older, and have just seen
this movie, i also shed a tear for this delightfull tale of love.

Nobody is better than Jeanette Macdonald to be teamed with Nelson Eddy, but Rise Stevens did a pretty good job. She is beautiful and sings pretty
good...good enough to be with Nelson Eddy for the Chocolate Soldier. There
is music, drama, great costumes and nice sets. The story flows pretty
good and is pleasant to the end. Another movie that ive seen in the past
as a child that has contributed to the music surrounding me in my Adult
world. A keeper..enjoy.

Such memories this video brings back!
(Note: Jiminy Cricket's Christmas is actually an edited made-for-video remake of the holiday TV special, A Disney Channel Christmas!)

I'm a big Joan Crawford fan and a fan of old B&W movies....but this one is just kinda boring. Did see the Last of Mrs. Cheney, though and that was very good. Joan really sparkled in the latter.

Producer Hal Roach makes the regrettable error of shoehorning Laurel and Hardy into a romantic musical that looks like a Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy reject. Fortunately, "Swiss Miss" (1938) includes some of Stan and Ollie's most memorable scenes - highlighted by their surreal encounter with a gorilla on an Alpine suspension bridge. Skip the dreadful songs and you will have a good time.

Although you might consider this just another Gene Autry "Singing Cowboy' Movie, "The Big Show" has a lot of history in the scenes showing making movies, 1936 vintage cars and trucks, movie equipment, etc. There are some good scenes along Texas highways, and of course most of the action was filmed at the 1936 (Dallas) Texas Centennial Exposition. Some very good footage of "The Cavalcade of Texas" included most of the finale on "the world's largest outdoor stage". Some romantic interest with Kaye Hughes . Comic with Smiley Burnette, William Newell, Charles Judels, Max Terhune and"Elmer Sneezeweed." An unknown guitar with "Sons of the Pioneers" .....Roy Rogers is seen. Other numbers by "The Light Crust Doughboys" and "The Jones Boys". Not a bad western, but more of a ... Read More:

I can only affirm what the reviewer from Germany said, to wit: avoid the cheap dubs of "Swing High..." at ALL costs - they really are unwatchable, much like the public domain version of "My Man Godfrey" - although that film looks pristine compared to this one. My particular video was distributed by Diamond Entertainment Corp. and says "Mastered from the Original Studio Print" on the box. Baloney!! Until this gets a proper release from Universal, which owns all these pre-1948 Paramount films, pass on "Swing High, Swing Low". Consider yourself forewarned, and save your money!!!!
