This game can be called a beneficial game to play . Meaning in that it helps with people of all ages with developing problem solving and cognitive thinking;as well as being a fun game with great graphics as well. I have tried this before so I know what I was getting into and pretty much so have gotten pretty good at it.. I have played various puzzle games in the past. Dr Mario, Tetris. various online ones at pogo.com and such. I find this one to be the most interesting as it offers alotta variety and skill levels . From very simple to quite trying and complex . My five year old grandson and I have had a wonderful time playing with this game. We learned a lot about logic, and we learned that we have different learning styles.

The 2005 version which I got from Amazon (see separate listing) has a Mac OS X installer which installed this game flawlessly in less than a minute. I have no experience with the 2001 version.

Reader Rabbit Learn to Read With Phonics

I tried 3-4 Reader Rabbit Programs. They are hard to use. The navigation is not good. It takes significant learning effort to get used to the programs. I work in Software from 10 years. If its difficult to navigate for me, the kids definitely will not be able to navigate freely. It will not allow you to skip something. If the kids are using the same thing again and again and They want to skip the things they are bored of they are out of luck. It will not allow skip. Apart from that the program is educational. Another negative: The program does not install on computer. Every time you need to put the CD in to run the program.

Instead of struggling with Reader Rabbit, I would highly recommend the Leapfrog Letter Factory and Math Circus. ... Read More:

When I was wondering about what gift to give to my niece who is fond of using PC and playing, my friend suggested to get her PC based kids software. I later did some research on all kinds of softwares available to by and found Readers Rabbit series the most appealing to kids.
As suggested by friend I bought Math 6-9 and few other Readers Rabbit and they are great fun and learning experience for kids to start learning math.
I definitely recommend this to all kids to learn math at early age.

This is an educational product while it entertains and teaches problem solving skills. My 8 year old really looks forward to playing it.

I LOVE Scrabble! I have had as many as 6 different types of the game - travel editions to deluxe and I really love the computerized version with a handy embedded dictionary and the ability to play alone or with a friend or with a computerized opponent of the level you choose! I have been broadening my skills and vocabulary with every game! I highly recommend this game for word lovers - this Mac version is superb. I had an older one that I liked - but this one is the cat's pajamas!

Oregon Trail - 5th Edition Win/Mac (Jewelcase)

The cd I bought had the 4th and 5th editions on it. When we tried to play the 5th edition on Windows XP it wouldn't work. When we tried to play the 4th edition it asked us to insert the cd but it was already inserted. I went to the Learning Company website and found out that you have to replace the OT5.EXE file with a new one. You can get the instructions here:

After we did that it played fine.
