Solid gameplay overall. The thing that makes this game a must buy is the subgames and the final boss. It's an easy game to beat, you can beat it in an weekend afternoon, but the subgames offer replay value.

The short version: The story line is really good with an unexpected plot twist... The fighting is real-time, not turn-based... slightly linear gameplay... This is a great game overall, especially if you're looking for something that you can re-play.

This was the first xbox game I ever played, a couple of years ago. (It was also the first game on any platform that I ever actually beat/finished.) Jade Empire was the beginning of my love for gaming.

I've read some of the other reviews, and I pretty much agree that the game does have some excessive load times (which I didn't really notice at the time, since I had never really played an xbox game before anyway and thought it was normal) but Jade Empire is engaging enough ... Read More:

this is a great game i had it for the playstation but lost it so
i had to repurches it.

since i coulden't find it for the playstation i selled for the game cube
which is ok i needed a few games for the game cube anyway.

anyway if you are a fan of this searies and you did not pick up this one
then get it while you can.

I've played the game a lot and hit several places where the system just froze up. I finally hit the black screen and cannot start the game any more. I just get a blank screen. This happens every time on both of the Nintendo DS's I have. After reading other reviews I realize I have a three character name and use "save and quit" a lot.

This game is fun, but the shipping is terrible. I paid for expadite shipping which should arrive from 1 - 3 days but got it 2 weeks later. I did not get a refund for the difference in shipping.

Much better then the Game Boy Advance, and better then the DS I think, and theres still alot of good games out for it, so my advice is to get it.

This is a great prequal to an equally great series. I must say that though it was fun it should only be played by the hardcore gamer for it can be rather difficult at times. Four stars overall.
