This first of the Harry Potter series is easily the best. It introduces all the characters with which we will become familiar through succeeding years, and provides a plot that will delight children while fascinating adult readers like myself who grew up on fantasy.

One problem, not of the author's making. What on earth is a sorcerer's stone? The original title of this book, and the title used in most markets, refers to a philosopher's stone. Most educated readers will recognise this reference to an age-old quest for longer life, but the reference has gone by the time the American reader reaches the bookshelf. Jim Dale gives an excellent reading of all the Harry Potter books. The audio version is especially entertaining when I'm just too tired to read, not feeling well, or on a long road trip when you just can't stand your husband's choice of music on the radio any more!

A perfect start to a wonderful series. I must admit I read the Chamber of Secrets before I read this novel, but then again I got hooked on Harry Potter by Dobby the House Elf!

I will write this review in spanish after the english one.

This audio Book is really good for children, or people who are just not good at reading (like me, hehe). It is read with a Spanish accent by Christopher Smith, with idioms and word usage from Spain. Some times might be alittle confusing for Latin American spanish speakers, but as I lived in Spain for a few years I could understand and enjoy it. The voice narration is very good and the voice acting is also very well accomplished. I'm sure most Latin Americans would prefer a more neutral accent which are achieved in Mexico, Colombia, and other countries which try to use words that most (if not all) Latin American countries understand. J. K. Rowling introduces to us in this fabulous story, the tale of a young boy who is anything but average. You see Harry is a wizard who has been sent to live with his muggle relatives after the death of his parents. His relatives try to thwart his becoming a wizard by any means possible. This causes Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to send Hagrid the game keeper to bring him to Hogwarts and thus begins the magical tale of how a young oppressed boy finds friendships, danger, and a mortal ememy who wants nothing less than his death. This is the fast paced tale of a high-flying sport, Quidditch, potions and spells, and intrigue where things are not what they seem. Highly recommended as the start of a classical series.

I am an obsessive Harry Potter fan, and a 3rd year spanish speaker. I've read the first book almost too many times to count, and decided to mix it up a bit and give my self a challenge (my parents didn't want me to waste my time reading it again.) I've been keeping my english copy, dictionary, and notepad close to learn new vocab. I feel that reading this has been a great way to get better at spanish quicker. Slowly but surley, I've been using my english copy less and less. I reccomend it for anyone who wants to get better at their spanish in a fun, familiar way. (As an added bonus, I got extra credit in spanish class for reading it!)

Well if you're looking at this product you're probably like me, busy and not the biggest fan of sitting down to read. I've always been a big fan of stories but I could just never find the time to read because of work and when I did I am admittedly an abysmally slow reader. After years of hearing how amazing these books, the Harry Potter series, were and loving every movie immensely it finally dawned on me to see if there was an audio book and there obviously is.
